La estación del Tren Maya en Cancún será la más grande del proyecto ferroviario que unirá destinos turísticos y sitios arqueológicos del sureste de México, informaron los responsables del tramo 4 durante una reunión y recorrido de supervisión de los trabajos de construcción.
En Cancún confluyen dos trazos: el 4, que conectará a Cancún con Izamal, en el estado de Yucatán, y el 5, que va de esta ciudad a Playa del Carmen, en el estado de Quintana Roo. La estación se encontrará conectada al Aeropuerto Internacional de Cancún, y será la más grande pues contará con 10 andenes, ofreciendo una gran conectividad a los viajeros.
Durante la exposición, los responsables del tramo 4 informaron que para este proyecto se realiza un trabajo maratónico, avanzando en tiempo para concluir a finales de este año, además de generar un beneficio económico para la región al contemplar en su plantilla laboral a trabajadores de la zona.
En materia de seguridad, explicaron que de acuerdo con estudios del Centro Nacional de Prevención de Desastres (Cenapred), los trenes que se utilizarán podrán resistir vientos de un huracán categoría 5, permitiendo trasladar a ciudadanos y visitantes a estaciones cercanas.
Asimismo, mencionaron que en el tramo 4, que conectará a Cancún con Izamal en aproximadamente 43.3 kilómetros de vía, se proyecta la aplicación de 12 programas ambientales para mitigar el impacto en la zona, considerando tener el primer vivero en Cancún y posteriormente uno en cada estación, de tal manera que se logre reubicar la flora retirada para la construcción del tren.
En la exposición de avances del proyecto participaron el gerente del tramo 4 por Fonatur, Gonzalo Abad Frías; la encargada de la Gerencia de Sustentabilidad y Ambiente del Tramo 4, Victoria Freyssinier; el representante de la empresa ICA, Raymundo Apodaca; y el director de Protección Civil, Antonio Riveroll.
